The BEST Way To Wash Your Car 2023

Washing a car is simple, right? but to do a great job there are a few things to keep in mind. so what's the best way to wash a car? This guide will run through how to get your car looking clean fresh.

What you will need:

  • A Pressure Washer or Hose
  • Car Shampoo
  • A Microfibre Mitt or Sponge
  • Microfibres Cloths
  • 2 Buckets
  • Tar Remover
  • Car Polish
  • Tyre Slick
  • TFR and Sprayer

1. Spray The Car Down

Using the sprayer mix and TFR (see package for mixing ratios). Spray down the car with the TRF mix and leave for a few Minutes. Use a hose or a pressure washer to clean most of the dirt and grit off. When using a high pressure washer be careful not to damage the paint.

2. Clean The Wheels

Use a separate brush or sponge to wash the wheels down. We recommend doing this now and not at the end so you don’t have any break dust messing up your freshly cleaned car.  You can also use an alloy wheel cleaner if needed, but TFR can also work great.

 3. Work From The Top With Soap

Apply your soap or wash wax at the top, moving downwards so dirt doesn’t run into parts you’ve already cleaned. Ensure you are using a 2 bucket method, rinsing your mitt in one bucket then using another bucket for soap. This helps prevent scratches. You can also use a spray foam for this step, they work great. Pro tip if you drop your mitt on the ground, grab a new one before continuing with washing your car.

4. Rinse As You Go

Avoid soap marks by washing down the parts you’ve soaped before moving onto other areas. This is best kept for the sunny days where the car drys quickly and soap marks can become more visbilbe and tedious.

5. Dry

Leaving a car to dry naturally can result in a streaky finish or watermarks, so make sure to dry sections properly using a microfibre cloth or towels. A rubber water blade is also useful, but not necessary.

6. Add Tyre Slick

Now is a good time to add your tyre slick or shine. We highly recommend using a tyre slick as it really does give your car a fresh, show room look.

7. Inner doors

When the rest of the car is dry, open the doors and boot, using a damp cloth clean between the door frames. We like to use a dry wash product to prevent scratches in the inner doors.

washed your car? Want some extra shine? Do this next!

8. Tar Remover

Spray the car down with a tar remover product, use gloves as these products can be hard on your skin. After you have sprayed the car down, go round each panel with a new microfibre cloth buffing the tar remover off in small small circle motions.

9. Wax And Polish

Using a car polish will help your car look even better. It has the added bonus of protecting the car for longer, meaning fewer washes in the future. To do this, you just add some polish to a clean microfibre cloth and buff into the paintwork using the same small circle motions as before. You will see a haze on the paint as you work round the car. Leave for 15 minutes and buff off with another clean microfibre cloth.

10. Spray Sealants

Using a spray sealant can seal your paint for 2 to 12 months, depending on the brand. We recommend using one that last about 2 to 3 months as this saves any extra hassle removing the sealant, if you want to get any paint correction done in future. Spray sealants are fast and easy. They can be applied in the same way as car polish, on top of your polish, or can be simply sprayed on a wet car and rinsed off.
